I can't quite describe it but there is something truly powerful and magical about owning my great grandmother's home. The heartfelt decision to buy her home and rebuild it has changed my life in more ways than one. This journey is about more than just restoring a home, it is about restoring and renewing a legacy. I'm creating an ancestral garden where memories and legacies can flourish. One moment and task at a time gets me closer to my dream home and garden at Big Mama's.
Recently, I took a significant step in this project and I installed a mailbox.

This mailbox is more than a simple item. It symbolizes my connection to my family’s past. It serves as a reminder of the letters, stories, and memories tied to this address.

The Significance of the Mailbox
Installing the mailbox felt like a significant milestone. It represents home, belonging, and continuity. For decades, my great grandmother received mail at this address, creating a line of connection from her to me.
Seeing the mailbox proudly standing on the property makes the reality of this project sink in. This space, once filled with life and memories, is being transformed into a home again. The mailbox symbolizes that I am building something enduring and a new foundation for future generations to feel connected.

As I document this journey, each day reveals new lessons, discoveries, and joy. From the moment I installed that mailbox to planting the first seeds, every step feels like a warm embrace from the past, reminding me that I am rooted in love and history.
The mailbox is just the beginning of this meaningful project. It carries memories while serving as a practical tool for communication, forming a cornerstone of the new life being built within Big Mama's Home.
Documenting the rebuild of my great grandmother's home, along with creating an ancestral garden, has been rewarding and transformative. Each step reinforces the importance of family, heritage, and the connections that bind us together.
That mailbox stands as a symbol of continuity, reminding us that we are not just building walls; we are cultivating a legacy. As new memories flourish in the ancestral garden, I hope to honor my great grandmother’s spirit and provide a space where love, laughter, and family can thrive for generations to come.
